Note that there are two different mailing lists:

• assemblathon - a list for the discussion of current and future Assemblathons, as well as for discussion of general issues relating to all aspects of genome assembly. This list typically generates between 20–100 emails per month.

• assemblathon-file-format - a list for the specific discussion of how to best represent genome assembly information in a plain text file format. The Assemblathon hopes to provide a useful forum by which the community can help develop what might become a standard file format for genome assemblies.

If you are interested in subscribing to either of the two Assemblathon mailing lists, please follow these instructions (note that subscriptions to both lists are moderated):

1. Email sympa@ucdavis.edu using the address that you want to use to subscribe to the list
2. If you want to subscribe to the main mailing list, add the following as the subject line of your message: subscribe assemblathon First_name Last_name
3. If you want to subscribe to the mailing list that is discussing file formats for genome assemblies, add the following as the subject line of your message: subscribe assemblathon-file-format First_name Last_name
4. Leave the message body blank

To unsubscribe:

1. Email sympa@ucdavis.edu using the address that you used to subscribe to the list
2. In the subject line of your message, type either unsubscribe assemblathon or unsubscribe assemblathon-file-format as appropriate
